Overview
Formerly known as BIM, the Bachelor of Information Technology Management combines the management core of a BBA with the technical core of an IT degree — programming, systems analysis and design, database management and enterprise systems, alongside accounting, finance and organisational behaviour.
What the syllabus covers
- Programming and data structures
- Financial accounting and business finance
- System analysis, design and management information systems
- Database management and web technologies
- Project management and enterprise resource planning
- Internship and final project
Who it suits
Students who want to sit between engineering and business — the business analyst, product owner and IT consultant track. If you like technology but do not want to write code for a living, BITM is the most direct Nepali degree for that.
Think twice if
You want to be a strong engineer. BITM's technical core is real but shallower than BSc CSIT's, and graduates competing for pure software roles are usually up against candidates with deeper computer science. The degree rewards people who genuinely want both halves, and penalises people who wanted computing and chose this for the easier entrance.
BITM compared to BSc CSIT
BITM trades roughly a third of the computer science core for accounting, finance and management papers. That is an advantage if you are heading for analyst or product roles, and a disadvantage if you are heading for engineering ones.
Eligibility and entrance
+2 or equivalent with Mathematics, minimum 45% aggregate (or 1.8 CGPA), plus a pass in the TU CMAT entrance examination.
Entrance
