Bachelor of Computer Engineering
Overview
Bachelor of Computer Engineering is a four-year Tribhuvan University program offered at Pulchowk Campus and a number of affiliated engineering colleges. It combines hardware and software — digital logic, microprocessors, embedded systems and computer architecture alongside data structures, algorithms, operating systems and software engineering — and graduates register with the Nepal Engineering Council.
What the syllabus covers
- Engineering mathematics through four semesters
- Digital logic, microprocessors and computer architecture
- Data structures, algorithms and operating systems
- Embedded systems and instrumentation
- Software engineering and computer networks
- Final-year major project
Who it suits
Students who want the licensed engineer route and the hardware-software combination that pure computing degrees do not teach. Nepal Engineering Council registration matters for public-sector and infrastructure work, and it is a genuine differentiator that BSc CSIT and BCA cannot offer.
Think twice if
You only want to write software. BE Computer spends significant time on circuits, electronics and engineering mathematics that a web or application developer will never use. The IOE entrance is also the most competitive in Nepal — preparing for it costs a year for many candidates.
BE Computer compared to BSc CSIT
BE Computer adds hardware, electronics and NEC licensure, and a heavier mathematics load. BSc CSIT is more focused on software and easier to enter. For a pure software career, the practical difference in outcomes is smaller than the difference in entrance difficulty suggests.
Eligibility and entrance
+2 Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, minimum 45% aggregate, plus a qualifying rank in the IOE entrance examination.

On fees
We do not publish per-college fee figures, because they change every intake and a stale number is worse than none. Our cost guide explains how Nepali college fees are structured and what to ask before you pay.
