Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
Overview
ACCA is a globally recognised professional accountancy qualification of thirteen papers across three levels, plus an ethics module and three years of practical experience. In Nepal it is delivered through approved learning partners and has grown as an alternative to CA, particularly for students who want mobility into audit and finance roles abroad. Graduates of relevant degrees can claim exemptions from a number of papers.
What the syllabus covers
- Applied Knowledge: business and technology, management accounting, financial accounting
- Applied Skills: corporate law, performance management, taxation, audit, financial management
- Strategic Professional: strategic business leader and reporting, plus two options
- Ethics and Professional Skills module
- Three years of supervised practical experience
Who it suits
Students who already know they want accounting or audit, and who value international portability. Because you can begin straight after +2 and study alongside employment, ACCA can reach a professional qualification faster than a bachelor's followed by a master's.
Think twice if
You want a conventional university experience, or you are unsure about accounting. ACCA is self-directed, exam-by-exam, and the Strategic Professional papers are demanding — many candidates take longer than the nominal timeline and pay resit fees. It is also not a substitute for a bachelor's degree where one is formally required, such as for many government posts.
ACCA compared to BBS
BBS gives you a recognised degree cheaply but not a professional licence. ACCA gives you a globally portable professional qualification but not a Nepali bachelor's degree. Students who want both commonly read BBS alongside ACCA, using the degree for eligibility and the qualification for employability.
Eligibility and entrance
+2 or equivalent with a pass in English and Mathematics or Accounting. BBA and BBS graduates may claim exemptions from a number of papers depending on their transcript.

On fees
We do not publish per-college fee figures, because they change every intake and a stale number is worse than none. Our cost guide explains how Nepali college fees are structured and what to ask before you pay.
